JUDGE DEATH COMMISSION!!!

Hey guys, Just a quick one here. I don't usually have much time to take on private commission work, but a couple of weeks ago, Pete Wells of the wonderful site 2000AD COVERS UNCOVERED caught me at a good time. Asking for an image of the classic Dredd villian, Judge Death, he basically gave me free reign....
Here's the very loose rough I got to him for approval...

...with the pencils shortly after. Sorry about the quality--I had to take a photo, as in a very short space of time I have found myself without a working A3 scanner, laptop AND iMac (piece of crap! Should've stuck to bloody pcs...)
Hope you like it, and please check out Pete's 2000AD COVERS UNCOVERED, which shows every new 2000AD cover without logos and text, and even some making of features!
Right, I've got a Judge Dredd story to get done so catch you later!

Delightful, I'm envious of your skill and Pete for owning this.

Mate, did you just say "delightful"?! Thanks Mr Darcy ;)
And I can pass you Pete's address so you can steal it from him.

Would love to see you on an prog/meg outing of Judge Death... really nice stuff!

That would be very cool Kev. But more important than that, let's make 2011 the year when Tharg finally gives you a break!

Nice job. Spot on composition and great inks. Bolland's original Judge Death story has to be in my top ten

And thanks for the cool link. Artists doing their own photo-ref are hilarious. I'm not laughing *at* you... ;-)

Appreciate it Alan, and you're very welcome. I take comfort in the fact that other artists can't pull off looking as macho in their ref photos as I ....

Charmed I'm sure, I was just being polite to one of the best female comic illustrators going :)

Either way it rocks.

And I'm absolutely thrilled with the piece too! It looks absolutely amazing in the flesh (albeit, disgusting, rotten flesh!)

Thanks for the lovely comments about the blog too! At Leeds, champion photo reffers Leigh 'Prettyboy' Gallagher, Neil 'The Gurn' Roberts AND Boo 'The Swashbuckler' Cook were all in the same room! I was going to try and organise a ref-off but I don't think my camera could have coped!

Aahhh Pete, you should have gone for it! As I didn't have Niki's wet suit on me, they would have had the edge unfortunately...
